Website
In order to set up a passkey for this website, you first have to log in (which is why you still need a website password, which is why we send a password reset email to verify your email address, and you have to reset that before logging in).
Once you’re logged in, go to your WordPress Profile on the upper right of the web page (it should say “Hi [your name]”; click the profile link).
Scroll down to the bottom and click the Add Passkey button. That will trigger your browser to do the heavy lifting, talking to your passkey/password manager. The next steps depend on what you’re using, but just follow the prompts.
You don’t have to give the passkey a unique name, unless for some reason you intend on having more than one passkey for your one account. While that’s possible, I cannot think of any benefit of doing so.
We now have the ability to use Passkeys for authentication instead of website passwords. If you’ve got a Passkey set up for this website, you can click that and log in without having to type anything, letting your browser handle the Passkey authentication.
How that happens depends on your browser and how you have passkey manager integration. It may require scanning a QR code with your phone, for example, or it may be integrated with a browser extension.
