      Upcoming meetings

Community Meeting: VIVA White Oak Site Plans

      When: Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

Where: White Oak Community Recreation Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring, MD 20904

      What’s Being Proposed:

VIVA White Oak is located on Cherry Hill Road, southwest of Gracefield Road in Silver Spring, and comprises approximately 279 acres of land zoned CR-1.0, C-1.0, R-0.5, and H-220. Three Site Plan applications will be presented, proposing:

      1. Up to approximately 170,000 square feet of large-format retail with a fuel filling station
      2. Up to 1,100 single-family attached units (townhouses and 2-over-2 units)
      3. Up to approximately 200,000 square feet of commercial development, including grocery, restaurant, health club, and retail uses

      Why This Matters:

This meeting gives the community a chance to review the proposed applications and share comments before they are filed with the Montgomery County Planning Department. Your input at this stage can directly shape the project before it moves further through the County review process — so this is the time to engage.

      Questions?

For questions about the proposed applications, contact: Scott C. Wallace, Esquire, Miles & Stockbridge P.C. 301-517-4813 | swallace@milesstockbridge.com

      2026 Movie Night – Pixar’s Hoppers

Fun Movie night at “The Square” during the evening of Friday May 29!

About 60 neighbors came and the popcorn and cotton candy were a big hit! Thanks to Leigh-Ann for coordinating and picking the movie.

Below are a few pics taken during the event.

Registrations and new user emails are working again

Looks like when I put in some patches to fix the new user registration (and perhaps related to requiring a password reset by disabling automatic logins), that broke the new user password reset link. This should be working now. Apologies for the inconvenience there.

      Registrations are now working again

      All,

One of the recent updates (including a security update) broke new user registrations. The root cause has been identified, and while a permanent fix is pending, a temporary patch has been applied, and signing up now works again. If you tried to sign up in the past couple of weeks and never got a password reset email, please try again. I can also remove the prior attempts to give you a clean slate. Use the form on the Contacts page to send me a request to do that.

Thank you and apologies for the inconvenience.

      2025 Whitehall Square Community Day

October 11 had the annual Whitehall Square Community Day, and the weather was absolutely perfect for it, despite some threats of stormy weather. Good music, good food, fun games, a bouncy castle, and ice cream made it a fun event for all. Special thanks to Rachael, Kita, LA, and Brett for all their hard work in making this happen.

You can see the shared photo album here.

Vote for the 2025 Community Day Movie Night movie!

Watch a free movie at the Whitehall Drive Tot Lot!

Please submit your vote for which movie to watch! The movie with the most votes wins!

Voting will close on Monday, September 8.
